1.6 KATHA HOUSE
1.6 KATHA HOUSE
1.6 KATHA HOUSE | A project by Avratanu Sharma
Situated near the lush canopy of Howrah’s Botanical Garden, the 1.6 Katha House is an exercise in spatial optimization and subtle modernism. Designed and constructed end to end by Sahaj Designs, this 2,200 sq. ft. residence demonstrates how small urban plots can yield expansive, light-filled living spaces without compromising privacy or structural elegance.
Set on a compact 1.6 Katha (~1,152 sq. ft.) footprint, the project addresses the core challenge of dense urban sites: maximizing usable area while inviting ample daylight and ventilation. Through vertical volume stacking, clean structural grids, and intentional opening placements, the house creates an effortless flow between communal and private zones.
